Does anyone know if there would be some kind of record about
when and how many times we have spoken to the IIO.
Like will a IIO be able to look at one's receipt# and say if they have spoken to an IIO earlier that day or whenever that is?

Well, Not sure on this, I'm just guessing there should definitely be a process for the IIO to logs the converse/update somewhere for a cases he is attending too and it will be available for other IO's too, if you have any followup's and call again.

No need for exp certificate in applying for H1.
At embassy/consulate, for visa stamping, you should keep it as they may like to verify. It is not mandatory but good to have.

I am in a complicated situation...
Approved labor (PD 2003 EB2) from company A (not employed with them). Filed 140 and 485 (self as primary and wife as dependent). Ability to pay RFE on 140 and then denial on 140 and 485. Currently, appealed the decision because needed to get H1 extension and case has reopened. My wife (with company B) had her 140 approved (EB3 with PD 2006) and so after the July bulletin filed for 485 (her as primary and me as dependent) because my case seeemed a little dicy.
So we both have multiple 485's filed (although the first one since the decision is not final on 140 technically they might not have started considering the 485). Read multiple places that legally you can have only one 485 approved but could have multiple 485 pending and withdraw the other once anyone has been approved. Is this true? or you CANNOT even have two 485 pending?What is the best thing for me do do right now?

I am posting this question on behalf of a friend who needs some guidance w.r.t. H4 extension.
His H1b expires at the end of this month and he had applied for an H1b extension during Nov '06 after he received his I-140 approval. He received a RFE this week with USCIS requesting for additional documents. He had not applied for H4 extension during Nov '06 as his wife just moved to US in Jan 07. Her H4 expires at the end of this month. His problem is if he can apply for H4 extension for his wife, even though his own H1b has still not been extended due to a RFE. He can continue working as his application is still pending with USCIS but can he apply for H4 extension for his wife along with the additional documentation he is now going to send to USCIS in response to the RFE? Or can he apply for H4 extension based on the H1b receipt notice from USCIS? Or does he have to wait until he receives his H1b extension approved before he can apply for H4 extension? If that is the case, what would his wife's status be after her H4 expires at the end of this month and he has still not received the approval notice for H1 extension. You can stay here as long as the I797 is valid (there is no rule to stamp it within a year). Do you have H1B stamped frome before or is this your first H1? If the first one then you have to get it stamped when you travel out of US. If this is not the first one then you can travel back on your old H1 stamp with new I797.

Hi all,
I have a simple problem but can't get an anwer at the consulate because the person who's name is on the website to call is unbelievably rude even when I was very polite in asking 2 questions and calling him 'sir' all the time :(
I got my renewed passport yesterday and it doesn't contain my husband's name in the spousal name areal. So the problem is this:
1. I have applied for an H4 visa and I sent a copy of that application along as they requested.
2. All my proofs of residence were based on my marriage as the utility bill is in his name so there could be no confusion about the fact that I am married and the name of my spouse.
3. My address in India has been stated as my husband's address already but his name is not on the passport - is this really a problem?
4. I don't want to face any trouble when traveling as I'll be on an H4 with a passport that doesn't have hubby's name on it.
My question is:
1. Do I need to send anything else to them other than my new passport, an attested copy of my marriage certificate, and a $20 check for the return express mail?
2. Does the Washington DC consulate have an email address where I can submit a query as the two people listed on the website to call for passport problems do not seem to want to talk to anyone?
3. Can I possibly call the Chicago or SFO consulates to ask my questions as they seem to be better people (my hubby and brother got theirs renewed in these places)?

Hi,
I have received the EAD card yesterday with No finger prints available. But we have done our Finger printing before the EAD is approved. Approx 4 weeks before.
Is this normal? Or i should contact USCIS about this?
I know some applicants getting their EAD cards before finger prints were taken for them No finger prints available makes sense.
Any responses are appreciated

There is no equivalent non-immigrant visa to an E. However, in some circumstances, an H-1 or an L-1 visa might be possible based on professional or managerial position with the US enterprise in which an investment is being made.

When my I 140 was approved I was not married so the only name was mine. But during July 07 time I was married so was able to file I 485 for both.
If wife name is not mentioned what is the consequence?
